WEEK 4; How Will I Measure My Life?
How will you measure your life as an entrepreneur to determine your success or otherwise. In this week’s lessons, I learned about three intriguing but very important question every person or entrepreneurs needs to ask.
1. How can I be sure that I’ll be happy in my career?
2. How can I be sure that my relationships with my spouse, and family become am enduring source of happiness?
3. How can I be sure I’ll stay out of jail.
One singular thing that really stood out to me that I wish to share with everyone from now on is family. In every successful entrepreneur’s life, there should be a great investment on the family. No matter how you feel your business needs you attention and time, your spouse and children need you the more. Invest your time with them because they are your greatest accomplishment in life. So, one thing is clear here, every successful entrepreneur who doesn’t invest in his or her family has not accomplished anything just yet. Your family should be the pivot of your heart before anything else.
Interestingly, Frederick Herzberg said “ power motivator in our lives isn’t money; it’s the opportunity to learn, grow on responsibilities, contribute to others, and be recognized for achievements”. This is an indication money is not the measure of your success but how you use that money to impact the life of others.
Something really interesting I learned from Harvard Business School, HBS, this week is Humility in Business and Life. Being humble in the business world is a contributory factor in the life of a successful entrepreneur. Be willing to learn from all different kinds of people. Both the really smart ones and the less smart ones. Being humble means you accept people’s views in whatever you’re doing and makes the best decisions out of them. Being humble opens you to unlimited sources of learning that are also key in a successful business. Be willing to learn from everyone with a humble heart.
